The tariffs for vehicle technical inspections in force in 2020 are already known. After an increase in 2019, the values ​​of vehicle inspections rise again. The Government has updated the prices of mandatory vehicle inspections.

According to information published in the Diário da República , inspection rates are updated  based on the “inflation rate measured by the consumer price index (without housing)  - average annual rate of change by reference to the last month available. Evaluating the published figures, the increase is 0.25% compared to 2019.

When should I take my vehicle to inspection?

The date of the car inspection varies according to the typeof vehicle. Mandatory periodic inspections must be carried out until the day of the month of the vehicle's first registration, during the three months preceding that date.

Mandatory inspection

After an increase in 2019, the values ​​of mandatory vehicle inspections rise again this year after the Government proceeded to update prices.

According to information published in the Diário da República , the inspection rates are updated based on the “inflation rate measured by the consumer price index (without housing) - average annual rate of change by reference to the last month that is available. Evaluating the published figures, the increase is 0.25% compared to 2019.

Thus - and considering the 0.25% update - drivers, in the case of normal inspections, which are mandatory until the registration date, will have to pay an additional 8 cents, going to 31.51 euros (already considering the 23% VAT) ). The same is true for trailers and semi-trailers. For heavy vehicles, the value goes from 47.02 to 47.14 euros.
